Thu, 4/16 Astros 12:35p L 6-3 (PDF) Karstens looked bad. Berkman hit a 3 run shot off Burnett. We’re below .500.
Fri, 4/17 Braves 7:05p W 3-0 (PDF) Strong outing by Maholm gets the Pirates back to .500.
Sat, 4/18 Braves 12:35p W 10-0 (PDF) Snell follows Maholm with his own 4 hitter. Snell gets much more run support, thanks to 6 Craig Monroe RBIs.
Sun, 4/19 Braves 1:35p L 11-1 (PDF) Duke couldn’t get it going, and the Pirates could only muster a meaningless ninth inning run.
Mon, 4/20 Marlins 7:05p W 8-0 (PDF) Pirate blank the 11-1 Marlins for their fourth shutout win. Ohlendorf’s first Pirate win.
Tue, 4/21 Marlins 7:05p W 3-2 (PDF) Jeff Karstens is effective enough to secure another series win. Jaramillo hits well in place of Doumit.
Wed, 4/22 Marlins 12:35p W 7-4 (PDF) Paul Maholm got his third win of the season, and the Bucs swept the Marlins. Adam LaRoche went 4-5.
Fri, 4/24 at Padres 10:05p L 4-3 (PDF) Former Bucco, Brian Giles hit a double in the 11th to down the Pirates.
Sat, 4/25 at Padres 10:05p W 10-1 (PDF) Total domination by the Pirates. Duke pitched 8 and 1/3 effective innings.
Sun, 4/26 at Padres 4:05p W 8-3 (PDF) Adam LaRoche homered twice, and Andy LaRoche extends his consecutive game hit streak to 10. Good start for Ohlendorf.
Mon, 4/27 at Brewers 8:05p L 10-5 (PDF) Karstens was bad. Yates and Grabow were worse. That marks 16 consecutive losses at Miller Park.
Tue, 4/28 at Brewers 8:05p L 6-5 (PDF) The score was closer than the game, and 9:1 walk ratios don’t help. Teams have combined for 6 HBP in 2 games.
Wed, 4/29 at Brewers 1:05p L 1-0 (PDF) Yovani Gallardo pitched 8 innings, allowed 2 hits, struck out 11, and hit his own game-winning homer. Bucs get swept.
Fri, 5/1 Reds 7:05p L 4-0 (PDF) Bucs shut out for 2nd game in a row. Bronson Arroyo entered the game with an ERA over 6, and he allowed just 4 hits in 8 innings.
Sat, 5/2 Reds 7:05p W 8-6 (PDF) I was there! Bucs got 4 in the top of the 1st. With a 4 run lead, Capps looked shaky, but he held on.
Sun, 5/3 Reds 1:35p L 5-0 (PDF) Ugh. No Pirate reached 2nd base in this game. Johnny Cueto allowed just 4 hits and struck out 9 in 8 innings.
Mon, 5/4 Brewers 7:05p L 7-4 (PDF) Ugh. Blown save opportunities in the 8th and 9th inning ruin Paul Maholm’s strong starting effort. Ryan Braun is not a friend of mine.
Tue, 5/5 Brewers 7:05p L 8-5 (PDF) Ian Snell left in the 6th, down 3-2. Jesse Chavez entered, and the game gets out of hand. 17 consecutive losses to the Brew Crew.
Wed, 5/6 at Cardinals 8:15p L 4-2 (PDF) Pirates struggle to get the bats going, and Pujols goes 4-4.
Thu, 5/7 at Cardinals 1:40p L 5-2 (PDF) Todd Wellemeyer holds the Pirates to 4 hits and 2 runs.
Fri, 5/8 at Mets 7:10p L 7-3 (PDF) The Bucs were in the game until a bullpen disaster in the 8th.
Sat, 5/9 at Mets 1:10p L 10-1 (PDF) Pirate pitchers give up 17 hits. Paul Maholm’s solo home run is the Pirates’ only run.
Sun, 5/10 at Mets 1:10p L 8-4 (PDF) Nice game for McLouth. Bullpen struggles continue. Losing streak reaches 8.
Tue, 5/12 Cardinals 7:05p W 7-1 (PDF) Zach Duke is solid through 8 innings to stop the losing streak. Adam LaRoche and Brandon Moss homer.
Wed, 5/13 Cardinals 7:05p W 5-2 (PDF) Ohlendorf pitches well. Bucs pitchers allow no walks. Wilson goes 3-4.
Thu, 5/14 Cardinals 7:05p L 5-1 (PDF) The Bucs outhit the Cards, but they left 10 men on base. Too many missed opportunities.
Fri, 5/15 Rockies 7:05p L 3-1 (PDF) This loss stung, as the Pirates wasted a great start by Paul Maholm. Matt Capps is really struggling.
Sat, 5/16 Rockies 7:05p W 7-4 (PDF) A 1:37 rain delay made this a long night at the park. Timely hitting helped the Bucs walk away with a much-needed win.
Sun, 5/17 Rockies 1:35p W 11-4 (PDF) A monster 7th inning gave the Bucs a series win.
Mon, 5/18 at Nationals 7:05p W 12-7 (PDF) Jack Wilson goes 4-4. 4 Nationals’ errors and a bad bullpen outing helps the Bucs win.
Tue, 5/19 at Nationals 7:05p W 8-5 (PDF) The Bucs declined two opportunities to use Matt Capps in a save situation, but declined both. Clutch hitting in the 10th.
Wed, 5/20 at Nationals 7:05p W 2-1 (PDF) The Pirates take the lead in the 9th from a wild pitch. Matt Capps collects the save though he was inches from surrendering a game losing home run to Josh Willingham.
Thu, 5/21 at Nationals 7:05p L 5-4 (PDF) The Nationals finally found a way to hit Tom Gorzelanny and avoided a series sweep. The Pirate offense struggled in a 5 hit effort.
Fri, 5/22 at White Sox 8:11p L 2-0 (PDF) This quick game was done in 1:51. The Pirates couldn’t manufacture anything at the plate to help Zach Duke’s 8 inning complete game.
Sat, 5/23 at White Sox 7:05p L 4-0 (PDF) The Pirates got shut out for the second consecutive game. The Bucs aren’t getting any timely hits.
Sun, 5/24 at White Sox 2:05p W 4-3 (PDF) Down 1, with 2 outs in the 9th, Jack Wilson homers.
Mon, 5/25 at Cubs 8:05p W 10-8 (PDF) Freddy Sanchez goes 6-6 in a crazy, back and forth game.
Tue, 5/26 at Cubs 8:05p L 6-1 (PDF) The Cubs easily win a rain-shortened game.
Wed, 5/27 at Cubs 2:20p L 5-2 (PDF) The Pirates tied the game in the 7th, and Carlos Zambrano got ejected, but the Cubs prevailed.
Fri, 5/29 Astros 7:05p L 6-1 (PDF) Brian Moehler’s pitching and Edwin Maysonet’s hitting was enough to sink the Pirates tonight.
Sat, 5/30 Astros 7:05p W 7-4 (PDF) SkyBlast with Zac Brown Band sold out the park. Jeff Karstens looked strong in the winning effort.
Sun, 5/31 Astros 1:35p L 2-1 (PDF) Nate McLouth’s leadoff homer provides the only Bucco run. Mike Hampton shuts down the Pirate bats.

Tue, 6/2 Mets 7:05p W 3-1 (PDF) Zach Duke out-duels Johan Santana. Jaramillo hits his first career homer in the winning effort.

Sat, 6/6 at Astros 7:05p W 6-4 (PDF) The Pirates score 6 off Roy Oswalt and give Paul Maholm some rare run support.
Sun, 6/7 at Astros 2:05p L 6-4 (PDF) The Pirates lost their 3rd rubber-match game to the Houston Astros this season. Snell kept the Pirates in the game.
Mon, 6/8 at Braves 7:10p L 7-6 (PDF) The Pirates got a great effort out of their bullpen, but still lost this 15 inning marathon of a game.
Tue, 6/9 at Braves 7:10p L 4-3 (PDF) Another tough 1 run loss for the Pirates. Ohlendorf pitch well, but the lead slipped away in the late innings.
Wed, 6/10 at Braves 7:10p W 3-2 (PDF) Charlie Morton’s debut with Pittsburgh lasted only 13 pitches due to a sore hamstring. Jeff Karstens resumed and pitched well.
Thu, 6/11 at Braves 1:10p W 3-1 (PDF) Delwyn Young hits his first HR as a Bucco and ends the Pirates’ homerless drought.
Fri, 6/12 Tigers 7:05p L 3-1 (PDF) On the night that the Penguins won their 3rd Stanley Cup, the Pirate offense could only score 1 run against Rick Porcello. Porcello knocked in 2 runs himself.
Sat, 6/13 Tigers 7:05p W 9-3 (PDF) Eight runs, including a Freddy Sanchez grand slam gave Zach Duke all of the run support he needed and more.

W 6-3 (PDF) Today commemorated the 100 year anniversary of the Bucs’ World Series win over the Tigers. Ohlendorf pitched well in the rubber match win.
Tue, 6/16 at Twins 8:10p L 8-2 (PDF) Paul Maholm allowed 8 runs on 14 hits, and Bucco fielders struggled under the Metrodome roof.
Wed, 6/17 at Twins 8:10p W 8-2 (PDF) The Pirate bats came alive, and the LaRoche brothers each homered. Snell pitched well in the winning effort.
Thu, 6/18 at Twins 1:10p L 5-1 (PDF) Nick Blackburn was 1 out away from a complete game shutout when the Pirates finally got onto the scoreboard.
Fri, 6/19 at Rockies 9:10p L 7-3 (PDF) Ohlendorf wasn’t at his best, and the Pirate offense didn’t help.
Sat, 6/20 at Rockies 8:10p L 9-7 (PDF) The Pirates’ bullpen collapsed in a very frustrating loss to the Rockies.
Sun, 6/21 at Rockies 3:10p L 5-4 (PDF) Pirate batters couldn’t quite compensate for Paul Maholm’s “rocky” start. Colorado sweeps the Pirates.
Tue, 6/23 Indians 7:05p L 5-4 (PDF) Ian Snell struggles early, and the Bucs fall behind 5-0. A 4 run 9th is too little too late.
Wed, 6/24 Indians 7:05p W 10-6 (PDF) The Pirates ended their 5 game losing streak by abusing Carl Pavano. Every starter got a hit, and the offense protected against a 9th inning disaster.
Thu, 6/25 Indians 7:05p W 3-2 (PDF) Ohlendorf out-pitched Cliff Lee. McCutchen went 2-4 with 2 RBI and Wilson went 3-3 to lead the Pirates to an Interleague series win.
Fri, 6/26 Royals 7:05p W 5-4 (PDF) Virgil Vasquez took over for Ian Snell, and he looked good! Surprisng HRs came from Wilson, Jaramillo, and Morgan.
Sat, 6/27 Royals 7:05p W 6-2 (PDF) Maholm pitches well and gets plenty of run-support for the Bucs to record their 4th win in a row, all against the AL.
Sun, 6/28 Royals 1:35p L 3-2 (PDF) The 4 game win streak ends with Zack Greinke out-pitching Charlie Morton. Plenty of offense from the LaRoche brothers wasn’t enough.
Mon, 6/29 Cubs 7:05p L 3-1 (PDF) Despite 9 hits, the Pirates scored just 1 run. Duke pitched well, allowing 3 runs in 7 innings.
Tue, 6/30 Cubs 7:05p W 3-0 (PDF) After the Morgan/Burnett/Hinske trades, the Pirates have one of their strongest outings of the season. Ross Ohlendorf was great through 7 innings.
Wed, 7/1 Cubs 7:05p L 4-1 (PDF) Virgil Vasquez gave up 3 ER in 6 innings and the Bucs couldn’t score that many. Joel Hanrahan pitched well in his Bucco debut.
Thu, 7/2 Mets 12:35p L 9-8 (PDF) A back-and-forth game ends in heartbreaking fashion. A 2-run HR in the bottom of the ninth leads to a 10th inning loss.
Fri, 7/3 at Marlins 6:10p W 7-4 (PDF) Charlie Morton pitched a great game, and he got HR support from Brandon Moss and Ramon Vazquez.
Sat, 7/4 at Marlins 6:10p L 5-3 (PDF) The Pirates’ first loss to the Marlins this season was a tough one. Duke’s bases loaded wild-pitch to the pitcher was a key difference.
Sun, 7/5 at Marlins 1:10p L 5-0 (PDF) Not much to cheer about. The Pirates got 3 hits, 2 from McCutchen.
